The dreaded highway - Chennai - Bangalore

Though one of the best highways to cruise through to reach Bangalore in the comfort of your vehicle, it is by far the most dangerous.

Especially close to SriPerumbudur where majority of the accidents occur with Truck drivers who cruise 80+km/hr.

This brings to focus the importance of wearing a seat belt. Uncomfortable as it may seem, and not just an extra accessory in the car. It is the best life-saver one could think of.

The driver and the front passenger must make it a point to wear it for sure. Even it is important for the back seat passengers to wear. When travelling with children, you absolutely have to wear it.

I wish that as perfect the government is in collecting tolls at 5+ toll booths, they must have someone check that the seatbelts are fastened. Have more ambulances ready at the toll booths.

Traffic regulation

Though I am from Mumbai, I love chennai for it's minimalistic traffic and it's free flow becoz of being a round city, u seem to have alternate routes to a sigle place and best of all maps.google.co.in has come in to help even more.

But looks like this too would become a crowded if not an over-crowded one. Ultimately it's the people who comprise of the city, of how it appears etc.

Traffic policemen can lay some basic ground rules and fine people when they break them. It is a win-win situation. The policeman makes the money if the rule is broken. People would be more careful only so that they do not have to shell out money.

We must have stop sign at intersection having no traffic signal. There it should be the right of way, first person reaching is the one to leave first. Easier said than done, but worth a try.

Amazingly they have these tickers at traffic lights asking people to shut their engine so they save petrol till the signal is green.
